Six months ago, I was drowning in manual tasks and spreadsheets. Today, I’m a verified n8n creator helping others automate their work. You get a verified check mark if you successfully publish more than 3 n8n templates. Here’s my story.
I started exactly where you might be – clicking through endless tabs, copying and pasting data, and wondering if there was a better way. There was. n8n changed everything for me, and I didn’t write a single line of traditional code.
By reading this article, you’ll learn the exact steps I took to go from complete beginner to verified creator. I’ll share what worked, what failed, and how you can do it too.
Check out that sweet verified checkmark!
The Wake-Up Call
I hit my breaking point after spending 4 hours updating customer data across three different platforms. Sound familiar? That’s when I found n8n, an open-source automation tool that connects your apps and automates your workflows.
Why n8n? Unlike Zapier or Make, n8n offered something different:
- Full control over my data
- No monthly subscription fees
- A supportive community of creators
My first reaction? Pure intimidation. The interface looked technical, and terms like “nodes” and “workflows” made me nervous. But I decided to give it 30 days.
The Learning Phase
Starting with n8n feels like learning a new language. I began with the basics – connecting two apps to share data. No coding required, just point-and-click.
Here’s what my learning schedule looked like:
- 1 hour every morning watching tutorials
- 2 hours each weekend building test workflows
- 30 minutes downloading and trying different templates
I think the key is to look at the templates and see patterns in how people handle common problems. I also prompted A.I. alot!
Once I was confident enough, I created something for myself. Here’s the 3 workflows I created:
- Send Google analytics data to A.I. to analyze then save results in Baserow
- Summarize Umami data with AI (via Openrouter) and save it to Baserow
- Summarize your emails with A.I. (via Openrouter) and send to Line messenger
The Verification Process
Getting verified took preparation. They key is to read the documentation and label everything. Just make it easy for others to use it. The best way is to try alot of templates and remember which parts where difficult to use. To get approved you need:
- 3 public workflows with clear documentation
- You must add labels to your workflow
- Label each node properly. No default names.
1 secret I learned is to get in early. When I first started, there were only 800 templates. Now there’s 1043. As more templates get approved, it’s harder to come up with new ideas that get approved. I highly recommend getting in a template SOON!
The approval process is super fast. I got my workflows approved in 24 hours! I suspect as more people use n8n, this time will get longer and longer.
Results
There’s a couple of things that can come out of this:
- Earn money
- Get website traffic
As a creator, you can earn affiliate revenue if people sign up for n8n using your template.Though I haven’t earned a single dollar yet.
The key for me is SEO backlink juice. I’m getting alot of traffic from my n8n templates.
I do love the little emails about my templates gaining traction.
Conclusion
From confused beginner to verified creator in 6 months – it’s possible. I automated 80% of my repetitive tasks and built a new income stream.
